finally, finished the painful shoulder print! what should have taken two weeks took two months (largely due to the issue i was taking issue with). not the best photo, little on the red side, but a beautiful print all the same.

trip to Cairo, Egypt

I went with Karen Kunc as a visiting artists to the American University in Cairo, Egypt. We saw amazing things, we met wonderful and beautiful people, we taught a great workshop to international print students, we attended an opening for Karen’s solo show, and also attended the opening for “Meeting the Other”, a curated exhibition of American and Egyptian prints. today the spring 2010 semester at metro has officially begun. i will be teaching 3 classes – beginning drawing, beginning printmaking, and intermediate printmaking. let the good times roll!

once the semester gets underway, and i return from my trip to egypt the first week of february, it is my intention to complete the work from my residency at Anderson Ranch over the break. i want to make many (hundreds) of those little fabrics shapes. my vision is to hang the sheer fabric prints overhead, add stitching, dangling threads, and the fabric shapes. also, i will be searching for a local, front range venue, as well as national exhibition opportunities (although travel and associated expenses to install the work are a bit prohibitive at the moment…).
